Today I have some more items from Mary Kay's At Play line to share with you! Their Eye Crayon was released in two new shades - Teal Me More* & Over the Taupe* ($10/2.5g). I love a good shadow pencil, so I was excited to give these a try.

Teal Me More looks like a gorgeous teal blue in the pencil, but unfortunately it doesn't swatch to well. When worn on my lids, the colour sheers out so much that it's barely noticeable. I was really hoping that this colour would be bright and fun for the Spring & Summer season, but it just didn't work out for me.
Over the Taupe was a different story, and I actually quite liked this shade! This golden brown looks really nice with my blue eyes, and the pigmentation was good. I've been using this as a cream shadow base, and it wears for about 8 hours before fading or creasing. You can also use these jumbo sticks as liners, and this shade is so pretty on the lower lash line.
Over the Taupe blended out on my lid
If you're a Mary Kay fan, then I would recommend picking up Over the Taupe. Teal Me More was just too sheer for my liking, so I would definitely pass on that one. These pencil do require a jumbo sharpener, which I don't mind when it comes to eye products (I prefer twist-ups for lip pencils). Have you tried any of these jumbo liners, or anything else from Mary Kay's At Play line? :)
that teal had so much potential! but the other one is pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI know, it looks so pretty in the pencil! But the taupe is really nice :)
DeleteI thought both of these were pretty disappointing, even the taupe wasnt as smooth and pigmented as I would have hoped :S
ReplyDeleteAw, really? :( I was happy with the taupe one, but it didn't wow me.
DeleteThe taupe one looks nice!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is quite pretty! :)
DeleteIt's too bad Teal Me More doesn't translate, colour-wise. There was potential for a really pretty pencil!
ReplyDeleteI know, the shade looks so promising in the pencil!
DeleteIt's too bad about the teal pencil because it looked like it could've been a great pop of colour. Thankfully the taupe worked better, and that's definitely in my colour safe zone.
ReplyDeleteI know! But you're right, the taupe shade is more of an everyday colour :)
Deletehmm would have gone for the teal but the sheerness doesn't cut it for me unfortunately :(

A Beautiful Zen
Ya the formula was a bit of a letdown :(
DeleteThe taupe one is pretty. It's really too bad about the teal one as it looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteYa, it would have been such a fun shade!
