Mary Kay At Play Eye Crayon - Teal Me More & Over the Taupe

Today I have some more items from Mary Kay's At Play line to share with you! Their Eye Crayon was released in two new shades - Teal Me More* & Over the Taupe* ($10/2.5g). I love a good shadow pencil, so I was excited to give these a try.

"Lightweight, ultracreamy texture glides on smoothly for intense, true-color payoff that doesn’t fade.
  • Use as an eye shadow and as an eyeliner!
  • Glides on smoothly and blends easily.
  • Smearproof.
  • Versatile and buildable – you choose the level of color intensity.
  • Use with marykayatplay™ baked eye trio to enhance volume and creativity." - Mary Kay

Teal Me More looks like a gorgeous teal blue in the pencil, but unfortunately it doesn't swatch to well. When worn on my lids, the colour sheers out so much that it's barely noticeable. I was really hoping that this colour would be bright and fun for the Spring & Summer season, but it just didn't work out for me.

Over the Taupe was a different story, and I actually quite liked this shade! This golden brown looks really nice with my blue eyes, and the pigmentation was good. I've been using this as a cream shadow base, and it wears for about 8 hours before fading or creasing. You can also use these jumbo sticks as liners, and this shade is so pretty on the lower lash line.

Over the Taupe blended out on my lid

If you're a Mary Kay fan, then I would recommend picking up Over the Taupe. Teal Me More was just too sheer for my liking, so I would definitely pass on that one. These pencil do require a jumbo sharpener, which I don't mind when it comes to eye products (I prefer twist-ups for lip pencils). Have you tried any of these jumbo liners, or anything else from Mary Kay's At Play line? :)

  2. I thought both of these were pretty disappointing, even the taupe wasnt as smooth and pigmented as I would have hoped :S

  4. It's too bad Teal Me More doesn't translate, colour-wise. There was potential for a really pretty pencil!

  5. It's too bad about the teal pencil because it looked like it could've been a great pop of colour. Thankfully the taupe worked better, and that's definitely in my colour safe zone.
