With Summer approaching, I jumped at the chance to add a matte foundation to my collection. My skin is neither oily nor dry, but of course in the Summer heat my skin can get a bit shiny. Rimmel's new Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation* ($5.99/1 oz) is meant to keep your skin matte all day long, and I put that claim to the test!
Rimmel's Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation comes in simple packaging, but I still quite like it. You can easily squeeze out your desired amount of foundation, making this tube pretty hygienic. At first, this formula looks quite thick and heavy, but the mousse consistency means that it's actually quite lightweight. I would classify this as a high coverage foundation, which is not a label that I throw around easily!
Light Ivory
I take about a pea sized amount of this foundation, and then I use my fingers to work it into my skin. Once the foundation is partially blended in, I take my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to further blend everything in. I'm using shade 091 Light Ivory, which seems to be a good match for my skin right now. I'll probably have to go a shade darker in a few months. Light Ivory has slightly yellow undertones. Light Porcelain has pinky undertones, and it is quite light. True to its' claims, this foundation feels very light on my skin, almost like a BB Cream - but with full coverage. This formula covers up any redness and blemishes that I have. This foundation doesn't look cakey, but it does make me look a bit one dimensional. I do recommend using a bronzer and blush to give some life back to your skin. This foundation also keeps my skin matte all day long - but I don't have oily skin to begin with. I'll have to give this a fair trial in the middle of Summer!
If you want a full coverage yet lightweight and natural foundation, this one is the one for you! And I love that it comes at an affordable drugstore price. Steph from Fun Size Beauty also reviewed this foundation, and she has oily skin so she can attest to the matte claims! Have you tried this foundation before? What foundation are you currently loving?
this sounds really good! lightweight but full coverage, nice! I don't think I have any full coverage foundations so I'd love to test this out and can't wait to see how it fares in the summer :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to put it to the test this summer! I normally opt for BB creams in the summer, but this one is so lightweight that it just might work :)
DeleteEeeek now I really want to try this but I have so many foundations in need of finishing :p
ReplyDeleteHaha!! I highly recommend it :)
DeleteThis formula sounds amazing! Might go pick it up today :)
ReplyDeleteYay! if you do, let me know how you like it! :)
DeleteI got this foundation a couple of months ago and I think it's amazing. I've searched high and low for a good mattifying foundation and this seems to be the one. I'm currently testing the Rimmel BB cream MATTE and I feel it's even better as the consistency is more lightweight and liquidy, therefore easier to apply.
ReplyDeleteOoh I'll definitely have to check out the BB cream then! :D
DeleteRimmel has really great foundations - I'm currently using Wake Me Up and love it, this one sounds promising :)
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to try the Wake Me Up for ages! It looks really good :)
DeleteI actually haven't tried any mattifying foundations. I have fairly dry skin and most of mine have moisturizers in them, but then I end up with a shiny T-zone. How do you think this would perform on drier skin? I should really test this one out!
ReplyDeleteThis formula is actually fairly creamy, despite being matte! I can't say for sure, but I think that it would work on drier skin too :)
DeleteI tried a sample of this in Ivory, and I liked the formula but the shade was a bit too dark on me. I might try Light Ivory!
ReplyDeleteYou should give Light Ivory a try! :)
