Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control

I've been trying out so many different primers over the past few months, and today I bring you Smashbox's Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control* ($50 CAD/1 oz). Smashbox is well known for their Photo Finish Primer line, so I was really excited to give this formula a try.

Smashbox's Photo Finish More Than Primer comes in several different formulas, and I've been testing out the Blemish Control one. This primer actually contains 2% salicylic acid, which is an ingredient known to help fight acne. I've been using this primer for about a week and a half, and I've really been enjoying it! While I wouldn't rely solely on this primer as a form of blemish control, I do like knowing that my primer can help in addition to my skincare regime. This primer has a cream-gel formula, which feels very light on my skin. I don't find that this primer has a silicone feeling to it, which is a nice change of pace. I think that this formula would work best for anyone with normal-oily skin, as this does keep my skin quite matte throughout the day. This primer can be used on its' own, or under foundation. I love how easily my foundation glides onto my skin after using this primer!

While I'm not convinced that this primer will cure your acne woes, I do really love how it keep my skin oil free and my makeup looking great all day long. The addition of 2% salicylic acid is a great skincare benefit, which I definitely appreciate. I love when my products have multiple uses! Have you tried any of Smashbox's primers before? Which formula is your favourite? :)

  6. I've been thinking about trying this for a while, so I am glad to hear your take on it. I always use a primer, so if it can be helping fight acne as well as help keep my makeup put it sounds pretty great :)

  7. i was looking into this at Shoppers! i think its brilliant that they came out with this formula but like you i'm slightly skeptical that it would be all you'd need to fight the acne. i think its a good 'add on' though to a current routine. having said that, i always think i'm oily but i realized lately that i'm actually not! my skin is dehydrated so while i thought i would need this, i think i would stick with the regular version.

    1. It's funny how we can think our skin is a certain type for ages, and then realize that it's something different! I haven't used the regular version in years, I'd like to give it another go :)
