Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric

Summer is quickly approaching, and that means beautiful beachy waves are back in style. My hair is naturally wavy/curly, and I turn to salt sprays to add a bit of texture to my locks. I've been trying out Shu Uemura's Liquid Fabric* ($38 USD/250mL), which is a mineral texture spray.

Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric

"Designed to accentuate the beauty of curly hair, Liquid Fabric revitalizes and invigorates curls and waves. This mineral-infused spray produces an ideal curl pattern with a natural looking finish while providing moisture balance, humidity resistance and frizz control and heat-styling protection. Safe on color-treated hair." - Shu Uemura

To use, I lightly spritz on Shu Uemura's Liquid Fabric onto either damp hair before quickly blow drying, or onto dry hair as the last step in my styling routine. You don't want to get heavy handed with this product, because it can build up and make your hair feel a bit dirty/clogged. The packaging is quite simple, which I like. The black plastic bottle has a spray nozzle which can be locked. The spray is quite targeted, whereas I would have preferred a finer mist. After I'm done spraying this on my hair (I focus on the bottom half of my hair, keeping it off of my roots), I lightly scrunch my ends with my hands. My hair is left with that piecy, beachy look that I love! I find that my hair holds this look for about 6 hours, and then I need to touch-up, not too bad! This product has a very light scent that almost reminds me of aloe. Do be warned that one of the top ingredients is alcohol, so this might be a bit drying to your hair. For such a pricey product, I would have preferred this product to be alcohol-free.

Overall, I do really like Shu Uemura's Liquid Fabric, it gives my hair the beachy look that I love. However, this product isn't fool-proof, as it can feel a bit heavy if you use too much. What are your favourite products to help you achieve that messy but put together beachy look?

  2. I didn't even realize Shu made hair products! This sounds like something I would be interested in trying. I tend to keep my hair curly more often in the summer and straighten in the winter.
