essence glossy lipbalm in strawberry cheesecake

I love a good lip gloss, especially when the price is right. With essence, you always know that you're getting a good price, which means that you can pick up a few shades in your favourite formula. I've been trying out essence's glossy lipbalm in strawberry cheesecake* ($1.49/8ml), which comes in playful, youthful packaging, but actually delivers great results.

"sweet lips: the pampering, light formula of the glossy lipbalms in fresh colors give your lips a gorgeous shine and it has a delicious fragrance, too! fruits are mixed with sweet delicacies to create fabulous flavors." - essence

essence's glossy lipbalm comes in the type of packaging that I know that I would have been drawn towards back in the eighth grade. This packaging is young, fun, and playful. The small plastic tube has a slanted plastic applicator that you can squeeze the gloss out of. This type of applicator can make it a bit tricky to get an even amount of coverage, but it isn't too bad. Even though the packaging may look young, the product inside is great for people of all ages. The glossy lipbalm formula is smooth, creamy, hydrating, and sheer.

The shade strawberry cheesecake is a sheer light barbie pink with shimmer. This gloss actually smells like strawberry cheesecake - so yummy! The shimmer might be a bit too much for some people, but I personally love a healthy dose of shimmer & glitter. While the colour is sheer, i think that it still offers a nice wash of colour that covers the natural pigmentation of my lips. I only get about 2 hours of wear from this gloss before I need to reapply, but at only $1.49 a tube, it doesn't hurt to reapply throughout the day.

I think that essence's glossy lipbalm is a great affordable option, and the shade strawberry cheesecake is a pretty, girly pink. If you're on a budget (or even if you're not), these glossy lipbalms are a wonderful addition to your makeup bag. Have you tried any of essence's glossy lipbalms before? What's your favourite budget-gloss?
