L'Oreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow Primer

L'Oreal's Fall 2014 line is hitting stores very soon (this month, in fact!), and today I have the first of many products from this line: L'Oreal's Colour Riche Eye Shadow Primer* ($9.99 CAD). If you wear eye shadow, then primers are a great way to make colours look more vibrant, stay on longer, and prevent your shadow from creasing.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow Primer

L'Oreal's Colour Riche Eye Shadow Primer comes packaged in jumbo pencil packaging, that requires sharpening - no fancy twist-up here! I like jumbo pencils, they're just so easy to swipe all over your lids. After swiping, I'll tap the product lightly, and blend it out over my lids. This primer has a light beige colour to it, which works well for my skin tone, but it might stand out on darker skin tones. This formula is thick and creamy, creating an excellent base to apply powder shadows over top of. If you have any redness on your lids, this primer should conceal it, creating a blank canvas.

L'Oreal claims that this primer has a unique "colour boost complex", which helps to prevent your shadows from creasing, flaking, and smudging colour throughout the day. I definitely agree with these promises, as my shadow looks great even after 10 hours whenever I use this primer! After the 10 hour mark, my colour begins to fade, but I haven't had any issues with creasing or flaking.

Yay for an excellent drugstore shadow primer! I love how easy it is to just slap this primer on in the morning, there's no excuse to go primer-free. Well done, L'Oreal!

Do you use an eye shadow primer?

  5. This is an interesting primer formula, usually they are liquid. I like this idea because sometimes when I am applying a cream primer is gets all up in my lashes :/ This would give more control over the application for sure.
