For Summer 2014, Mary Kay has released 5 new shades into their Mineral Eye Color* range, and I have all 5 shades to share with you today! These new shades include three mattes and two shimmers, and they are all quite neutral colours.
"Create simple or dramatic looks with these five fabulous neutral shades of Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color. These long-lasting, fade-resistant shades look gorgeous on any skin tone and give you intense, crease-resistant colour in a single swipe." - Mary Kay
Mary Kay's Mineral Eye Colors come in little disposable plastic containers. I personally don't love this packaging, it seems a bit cheap to me. The idea is that you can transfer these pans into another palette, but I would have preferred to have these already come in palette-form, or in sturdier packaging. Mary Kay does sell empty palettes, the smallest of which seems to hold 6 shadows and costs $20. At $8 a pop, this palette with 6 shadows would total a whopping $68! These shadows are good, but that price is a bit too steep.
The quality of Mary Kay's Mineral Eye Colors is really wonderful, although the quality does seem to differ slightly between the shades. Stone is a beautiful matte slate grey that's very creamy and pigmented. Rosegold is the star of these new shades - although it's not really a rose gold shade. I would describe Rosegold as more of a metallic gold with brown undertones. This shadow is extremely creamy and pigmented. French Roast has a bit of a drier formula, but it still applies nicely to the eyes. This shadow is a dark brown with golden shimmer. Driftwood is a mid-toned brown shade which was slightly less pigmented. Ballerina Pink is a girly light pink with a semi-sheer pigmentation. This shadow can apply somewhat chalky if you use multiple layers. All shadows had wonderful staying power - I could go a full 12 hours without major fading and no creasing!
I think that the standout shades from these Summer 2014 colours are Stone and Rosegold. I do wish that these shadows came in permanent packaging, or were in a pre-made palette, as the cost of making your own palette does add up quickly. Have you tried any of Mary Kay's Mineral Eye Colors before? Which shades are your favourites?
i really loved rosegold too! i have so much bulky packaging it'll be kinda nice to put these somewhere small though.
ReplyDeleteYa, I need to figure out how to store them! I'm tempted to buy a Z Palette!

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! :)
DeleteI really love drift wood as well!
ReplyDeleteI love how creamy it is, but I'd like it to be a bit more pigmented!
DeleteI get the concept of the smaller shadows but I agree, I think these would be better in a palette. I would surely drop one of these and smash it lol
ReplyDeleteHaha! it's only a matter of time for me too!
DeleteI like the look of Stone and French Roast. These look to be a depotter's dream since there is no work involved.
