Maybelline recently released their new Dream Wonder Powder*, and I've been testing it out for the past few months. This powder is creamy, soft, and promises buildable medium coverage. I haven't had much luck with powder foundations in the past, and I normally just end up using them as a setting powder in conjunction with a light coverage foundation. Let's see if Maybelline's new Dream Wonder Powder can change my mind on powder foundations!
"Creamy glide, smooth flawless finish, perfect skin. Feels like powderless powder." - Maybelline
Maybelline's Dream Wonder Powder comes packaged in a small plastic compact with a mirror and sponge applicator. The packaging feels sturdy, and I think you'd be able to toss it into your purse without worrying about it opening up. This powder is very soft & creamy, and I love that it doesn't get cakey when I build up the coverage. While I can get light-medium coverage from this powder, my favourite way to wear it is on top of a BB cream. If I'm wearing a light coverage BB Cream and want an extra boost of coverage, then Maybelline's Dream Wonder Powder is the perfect compliment.
This powder doesn't accentuate pores or cling to dry patches, and it keeps my skin semi-matte for about 5 hours. At that time, I do find that I need to touch up with my powder to control oils. The shade 15 Ivory is a tiny bit too dark for my current pale skin tone, but it might be a better match as the Summer goes by. There is a lighter shade in this line, 10 Porcelain Ivory, which I think I need to check out!
Shade #15 Ivory
If you have good skin, and you enjoy the ease of a powder foundation, then I think you'll love Maybelline's Dream Wonder Powder. If your skin has some trouble areas, you might prefer using this lightly as a setting powder. Either way, the formula is really nice to work with, and I love that it's available at the drugstore!
Are you a fan of powder foundations?
The perfect color! Let's see if I can buy :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully it's available wherever you are! :)
DeleteI am not a big fan of powder foundation and always end up using them as touch up powder mid-day. The texture of this looks quite creamy which I prefer for powder foundation. Will have to check this out and see the shades available.
ReplyDeleteYa, I tend to always use them for touch ups or to set foundation too!
DeleteThis looks awesome! I'm always wearing powders because the weather in singapore is hot and humid all year round! Hope we get this line soon!
ReplyDeletePowder can be such a lifesaver in the Summer months!
DeleteI've been using this as a setting powder for months, had no idea it was powder foundation lol. I can't see it giving me enough coverage for wearing it alone but it works wonderful as a setting powder for me.
ReplyDeleteIt can be used both ways, depending on how much coverage you want/need! But I agree, I definitely prefer it as a setting powder :)
DeleteKeeping your skin matte for 5 hours is pretty good! I don't use powders often but I like that you can use it as a light setting powder too!
ReplyDeleteYa I was happy with it! Touching up midday is no big deal :)
