Maybelline Master Kajal in Midnight Brown

Today I have Maybelline's new Master Kajal in Midnight Brown* to share with you! This was my first experience with a kajal liner, and I honestly didn't know what to expect. I love trying out new liners, so I was game to give this one a go!

I normally wear black liner, but chocolate browns are a softer alternative. Maybelline's Master Kajal has interesting packaging - all of the liner is visible, it doesn't twist up or down. You're meant to use the liner sideways, so sharpening shouldn't be necessary. This formula isn't dry, but it also isn't super creamy. This means that you do sometimes experience slight tugging. I find myself wanting to use the tip to quickly draw on my line, as I find that it gives a more pigmented, even line compared to when I use the liner on its' size as it's meant to be used. I find it slightly difficult to create a nice winged tip with the format of this liner, so I normally just stick to something simple.

This kajal formula from Maybelline is easily smudgeable, and it doesn't set that quickly. This means that girls with oily lids might have a problem with this liner fading quickly or smudging throughout the day. If you're like me and don't have oily lids, you'll be able to get about 7 hours of wear before the colour starts to fade. On my lower lash line I did have some smudging at the 2 hour mark, so I prefer to keep this liner on my upper lash line only.

While this kajal packaging is very fun and new to the mainstream drugstore market, I just don't think that it will ever replace my beloved liquid liners! For those with oily eyelids, I wouldn't recommend this product. Maybelline's Master Kajal launches in stores this July, will you be picking one up?

    1. Ya! My lids aren't oily at all, so I normally don't have too much trouble keeping liners on :)

  5. It looks nice and creamy in its consistency, but I prefer a fine line so not sure this is for me, although the design of it definitely has made me curious :o) Xx
