A friend uses purple shadows almost exclusively. I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen her with a brown/neutral on. Though they always look great on her, and though I’ve accumulated more than a few, my purple shadows tend to be neglected.
I’ve rounded up a few that I own. There’s that random IColor shadow which I bought off Craiglist, a few NYX, the L’Oreal Infallible, Make Up For Ever #92 and Dior’s Celeste.
I have never used the IColor shadow. It’s just so dark and an automatic smokey eye choice; dark smokey eyes are rarely office appropriate. My NYXs get a little more attention and it helps that Frosted Lilac is a light subtle shade. Mixed in with a little of Morrocco in the outer corners and a brown for blending, you’re good to go.
L’Oreal’s Purple Obsessions gets the same treatment as my IColor but I’ve been inspired to add MUFE’s into my daily eye looks. It blends out to give a tint of purple which isn’t expected just from inspecting the pan. But how will I ever get through that huge pan of shadow? Finally, Dior’s Celeste is extremely fun to work with and reminiscent of childhood putty. Even though it was a splurge, I’m quite happy it’s in my collection and is a great highlight option.
