Stila Magnificent Metals Eye Liner in Metallic Black Gold

I wasn't a huge fan of Stila's Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadows, but I've still decided to give Stila's new Magnificent Metals Eye Liners a go. I've been trying out the shade Metallic Black Gold* ($33 CAD/2g), and unfortunately I'm still not impressed with the Magnificent Metals line.

"One little line can transform your makeup in a big way. Stila’s Magnificent Metals Eye Liner allows you to create a bold, breathtaking beauty look. The formula contains black no. 2 and features a new, cutting-edge technology that allows a hint of glistening glitter to shine through. The final effect is a truly unique, multi-dimensional metallic finish, previously only achievable by layering multiple products." - Stila

Stila's Magnificent Metals Eye Liners come packaged in little black plastic pots with a clear lid. I like that you can easily see into the pan, which will come in handy if you own multiple shades. This formula is very unique, it's completely unlike anything else that I've ever used. The formula is creamy, but there's so much glitter that it's also a bit chunky. I've been using an angled liner brush to apply this liner, and I've been finding it difficult to get a clean, straight line. The glitter tends to fall off, and can settle on your cheekbones. My biggest issue with this liner is the smudging. I don't have oily lids at all, so I was really surprised by how quickly this liner smudged. Within 30 minutes, this liner was all over my eyelids. This was the same issue that I had with the Magnificent Metals Shadows, so I guess it shouldn't have been that surprising! The Metallic Black Gold colour is very pretty, it's a black laced with golden glitter. So, if you can get this formula to work for you, then this would be a beautiful liner.

All in all, I just can't recommend Stila's Magnificent Metals Eye Liners. The formula smudged much too quickly on my eyes, so I definitely don't think that it's worth the hefty $33 price tag. Have you tried any of these new liners? There are four shades available, if you're still interested in trying them out!

  1. the colour is so pretty but i feel like the formula works better as a shadow than a liner probably (although i'm still testing mine)

    1. I've been scared to try it as a shadow after seeing how much it smudges when worn as a liner!
