The Holiday Inn Select Montreal is currently undergoing some renovations, so there's an alternative entrance to get into the building. Since this hotel is just outside of Chinatown, you can definitely expect an Asian influence. The renovations are aiming to make the hotel more feng shui, which I'll be honest - I don't know a ton about. The room we stayed in had one queen bed, a couch, chair, tv, and a fairly large bathroom. The hotel has a gym, pool, and there are shops on the main level of the building, underneath the hotel. The hotel is equipped with free wifi, which I appreciate immensely! There's an Asian restaurant in the hotel, with a beautiful fish pond to take in during your meal.
Room service!
While we had a great overall experience with this hotel, there were some minor flaws. The thermostat didn't seem to work, so we call down to reception for additional blankets. An hour later, we were still pretty cold, so we called reception to check on the status of those blankets. This time, the blankets arrived within minutes. Another complaint that I had was about the shower. The shower seemed to be pretty hit or miss - the first shower of my stay was lukewarm at best. The next day, the shower water was hot, and I was a happy camper. My last qualm is that this hotel room did not come with a mini fridge. I like having the option to bring food (ahem, leftovers) back to my hotel room, and a mini fridge would have come in handy!
One of the main selling points for this hotel is the location - just outside of Chinatown. You're just a minute walk away from a wide variety of Asian restaurants, I almost felt like I was back in China! You're also only a ten minute walk from the amazing shops on St. Catherine street.
A queen room at the Holiday Inn Select Montreal will run you about $130 per night. I love the location of this hotel, and my experience here was quite pleasant. There were a few small setbacks, but nothing major. If you're looking for a hotel close to Chinatown, this is the hotel for you.

ReplyDeleteOh that's awesome that you've been here too! Ya I loved the pond, so relaxing! :)
Deletewe stayed there many years ago and I like the location as it is so close to downtown(yes, all the shopping) and nice restaurants. Guess the hotel needs some improvement. When I stay in hotels, the most important thing is cleanliness and shower:)
