Travel Diaries: I'm Going to Europe!

You read that title right, I'm going to Europe! When Dylan and I were flying home from our trip in Beijing, our flight in Detroit was overbooked. So, Delta offered us each a $750 USD (approx $900 CAD!) voucher and a night in a hotel in Detroit for the inconvenience. Dylan and I have spent the past 7 months trying to decide where we wanted to go on vacation with these vouchers. At first we were thinking Paris and Switzerland, then we thought about Japan, briefly looked into Singapore (such a long flight!), but we've finally decided!

In just over a month from now, we'll be flying to Eastern Europe. I've never been to Europe, and neither has Dylan, so we are both incredibly excited! We are starting our vacation in Budapest, Hungary, where we are staying for four days. I'm probably most excited about visiting the Gellert Spa, it just looks stunning.

After Budapest, we are taking a train to Vienna Austria, where we are staying for four days. When trying to decide on a travel destination, I asked a well traveled coworker what her favourite city was, and she said Vienna. So, I knew that I had to add this magical city to my European adventure. I'm incredibly excited to take a ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel!

Lastly, we are taking a train to Prague, Czech Republic, where we'll be staying for four days. I can't wait to walk through Old Town Square, visit the castle district, and to see the magnificent mechanical performance of the astronomical clock.

Right now we're trying to finalize our itinerary, so if you've been to any of these European cities I would absolutely love to hear your must-sees, favourite restaurants, etc.! I'll be sharing photos of my travels over on Instagram, and I'll be writing about my trip when I come home.

Have you been to Europe? What's your favourite European city?

  5. Wow sounds like an amazing trip Laura! My family is from Eastern Europe, I haven't visited in nearly a decade. Everything is so laid back there, which is quite a contrast from life here. Even strangers treat you like family and make you feel very welcome and at home. I'm sure you will make great memories! Have fun! :)

  7. I am immensely jealous!!! I've been wanting to go to Eastern Europe ever since I got back from my Western Europe trip back in August, and I have to say, Paris and Switzerland are incredibly expensive. My tour guide even pointed out that economic-wise, Eastern Europe are better bets.

I especially want to go to Prague and Budapest!
