L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

L'Oréal's Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara* has been my latest mascara trial, and today I'm here to tell you all about it! I like my lashes to be very dramatic on a daily basis - I can never have enough volume or drama when it comes to my lashes. Does L'Oréal's new formula live up to my expectations? Read on to find out!

L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

"Enter the world of Intenza. Lashes are dressed in ultra-intense deep matte black volume, spread like butterfly wings. The exclusive Double Wing Butterfly Brush spreads lashes outwards while building greater intensity. L’Oréal’s Intenza formula is enriched with micro-fibres for up to 9X the volume without clumps or flakes. Creates a simply sophisticated matte finish." - L'Oréal

I really like the packaging of this new mascara! The brush is really neat, it actually has a flattened design. I've never used a brush like this before, and it definitely takes a bit of time to get used to. Am I supposed to use the flattened side or the edge to apply the mascara? I'm still not sure to be honest - I've kind of been doing a bit of both.

I've been using L'Oréal's Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara in the shade Blackest Black, which definitely does deliver colour-wise. The formula enhances my lashes' natural curl and adds a bit of length, but I don't find that I get as much drama & volume that I'd like. L'Oréal claims that this formula gives up to 9 times the volume, and I have to admit that I'm not agreeing 100% with these claims. I am happy to say that I haven't had any issues at all with clumping, flaking, etc. This formula isn't waterproof, so it'll stay on all day long, and then remove easily at the end of the night. There is also a waterproof formula available in the shade Blackest Black, but I haven't tried that one out!

So, I think that this mascara is a good option for those that like added curl to their lashes while still maintaining a fairly natural look. Maybe my expectations for mascara are too high - I can be pretty picky when it comes to volume! This new formula left me wanting just a little bit more drama, but I definitely appreciate the fact that this mascara didn't smudge, flake, or leave me with raccoon eyes.

  1. This looks like its more volumizing than lengthening, but overall the result is pretty good on you!

  2. I thought exactly the same, it's a decent everyday mascara, but the original Butterfly one offered way more volume

  3. Great to read about this as I too prefer full on daily drama big lashes always since mine r just puny. I'm finally starting the sephora Gimmie more lashes set from holiday 14 still in search of that perfect mascara :) the drugstore brands have been tempting me lately tho I haven't bought one in a year after being disappointed by so many. So I have stuck to high end mascara findinf a couple I really like but not love. Think I will pass on this one tho the brush does look so interesting. Thx for the review! Kim
