Too Faced #Tfnofilter Selfie Powders

I love a good filter on Instagram (Valencia, anyone?), so I was very excited when I first saw Too Faced #Tfnofilter Selfie Powders* ($45 CAD), which promise to be filters for real life! This palette contains three powders, each of which aim to perfect your skin, leaving you photo-ready.

"Selfie Powders are your filters for the real world! Our collection of weightless finishing powders mimic the effects of your favorite photo filters by using light-fragmenting technology to instantly brighten with diffused warmth, bronze with a smoothing glow, or add a cool ethereal light to the skin. Get close-up perfection in photos and look filter-flawless in real life!" - Too Faced

The packaging of this palette is really adorable, and definitely aimed at a younger demographic. This palette has cardboard packaging with a magnetic closure and a large mirror. These powders are very sheer, and are meant to be used as the last step in your beauty routine. I had really high hopes for this palette, but I didn't really know what to expect. I'm really sorry to say that this palette ultimately left me feeling a bit disappointed - I just don't see a difference when I use any of these three powders.

The yellow shade, Sunrise, is meant to be brightening, and bring diffused warmth to your skin. The bronze shade, Totally Toasted, aims to bring a bronze, smoothing glow to your complexion. And finally, the lilac shaded, Moon River, promises to bring a cool ethereal light to your look. I wanted to show you three different selfies, using these three powders, but they all just looked identical if I'm being honest. These Selfie Powders don't look bad on my skin, but for a $45 product, I do expect a positive result.

I sadly think that this is a palette that you can skip. I normally love everything that Too Faced releases, but this just isn't a star product. I was hoping that these would be a good alternative to the famous Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders! If you've tried this palette from Too Faced, I would love to hear your thoughts on it! If you're a fan of it, I'd love to know how you're using it!

  1. In terms of value I don't think these are that bad because look at ambient light powders, those are ridiculously expensive and I personally can't see how they make a difference at all. But I agree, all of these look pretty much the same when you wear it on the face :p

    1. Ya, price-wise it's very good when you compare this palette to the hourglass powders! I haven't tried the Hourglass ones yet, but I feel like everyone loves those so they must actually do something!
