Travel Diaries Budapest: Hotel Palazzo Zichy

As you probably know, I was recently in Eastern/Central Europe, and Budapest was our first destination! Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, made for the perfect introduction to Europe. I'll go into more details about the city itself, and what we did while we were there, but for now I want to talk to you about the hotel that we stay in for our three nights in Budapest. Hotel Palazzo Zichy is a four star hotel on the Pest side, and it's definitely somewhere that I would highly recommend staying on your trip to Budapest!

"Hotel Palazzo Zichy, the place where history meets present! Satisfy your desire and stay in a historical building that was originally designed and constructed in the 19th century and served as the residence of a famous Hungarian noble, Count Nándor Zichy." - Hotel Palazzo Zichy

Each room has a DVD player, and there is a movie library on the ground floor. I think that is such a unique idea, and it's definitely a unique aspect of this hotel. Dylan and I "rented" What Women Want one night, which was a nice way to relax after a busy day being a tourist!

The bathroom was large, and there was enough counter space to be able to easily do my makeup in the morning, which I definitely appreciate! The shower was spacious, and the hot water never ran cold. The Superior Room was the perfect size, and the bed was incredibly comfortable! The windows opened to reveal a beautiful view - complete with the sounds of birds chirping.

Hotel Palazzo Zichy Lounge

On the ground floor, there is a beautiful lounge area. Everyday until 5:00 pm, there are complimentary snacks (pretzels, nuts, etc.), coffee, tea, and chilled bottles of water. I thought that this was such a nice service provided by the hotel, and it definitely came in handy on the last day of our stay, when we had an hour to kill before leaving to catch our train.

Check in and check out were incredibly easy, and the hotel staff always went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel has umbrellas available for visitor use, which came in handy on more than one occasion - Budapest proved to be quite rainy! The front desk staff was also always eager to help us out any way they could. On our first night when I couldn't find the toothpaste I packed, they happily provided us with toothbrushes and toothpaste. When we had questions about public transportation, the receptionist pulled out a map, drew our best route, and explained the fares and ticketing system to us. This is the kind of customer service that really elevates a hotel, and I couldn't have been happier with the staff at the Hotel Palazzo Zichy!

Hotel Palazzo Zichy Breakfast Buffet

The buffet breakfast was good, but I mostly filled up on fruits each morning. Being vegan, buffets are not normally my best friend, but I was able to find friends in the fruit salad, juice bar, bagels, and breads.

Overall, I'm very happy with our decision to stay at the Hotel Palazzo Zichy during our time in Budapest. I would highly recommend considering this hotel if you're planning a trip to Budapest - the location is perfect, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and clean. What more could you want!? There's also a newly renovated sister hotel, Hotel Parlament, which looks like a beautiful modern hotel!

Do you have any upcoming travel plans? Have you ever traveled to Budapest?
