On an average day, I opt for black liquid liner. But I'll admit, there are days when I want to switch things up. Coloured liners are an incredibly easy way to change up your entire beauty look! I've been trying out two of Marc Jacobs' Highliner Gel Eye Crayons - Top Sea-cret* & Violet Femme*. Keep reading to find out if I think that these are worth the splurge at $30 a pop!
Marc Jacobs' Highliner Gel Eye Crayons are packaged in sleek metallic silver tubes. You can easily twist up the product, and there's also a mini sharpener on the end to ensure you always have a sharp tip. The formula of these liners is very creamy, but I do find that I have to go over my line a few times to get the colour to really show up nicely. I prefer to use these liners in my waterline, so I can still also wear my favourite black liquid liner! I get a full day of wear out of these liners - no smudging, budging, or fading!
Top Sea-cret is a bright baby blue with a metallic sheen. This colour definitely pops on my eyes, and I've been enjoying it alongside an otherwise neutral eye.
Violet Femme is a metallic violet with pink undertones. While this colour is really pretty in swatches, I just don't like how it looks on my eyes. I find that the pink tones make this colour hard to pull off around the eye area.
Top Sea-cret & Violet Femme are both fairly bright liner colours, so they definitely won't be ones that I reach for regularly. I do like Top Sea-cret as an occasional pop of colour, but Violet Femme just didn't work for me. I'd be really interested in trying out the black from this line - Blacquer - to see how I'd like it as an alternative to liquid liner!
Have you tried any of Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayons? The shade selection is really impressive!
