Hello friends, and happy election day to all of my fellow Canadians! The Body Shop's Spa of the World Collection launched in September, and I've been testing out the luxurious Japanese Camellia Cream* ($35 CAD/350 ml). I've been using The Body Shop's Body Butters for as long as I can remember, so I was really excited to try out a new new body cream formula from the brand!
"Camellia oil has been used by Japanese women since the 8th century to gently soften and moisturise skin. The exquisite scent of this pure and elegant flower allows mind and body to reconnect with a moment of profound peace. Use this rich body cream with a light, velvety texture as part of our relaxing ritual when you’re in need of a fast-track to tranquillity.
- Velvet moisture body cream
- Makes skin feel beautifully hydrated and delicately scented
- Relaxes body and mind
- With camellia oil from Japan" - The Body Shop
Everything about this body cream is luxurious. The packaging is quite heavy, and the cream itself has a wonderful whipped texture to it. When I think of a whipped lotion, I think of something light and airy, but this cream is actually fairly thick. Despite having a thick consistency, this cream actually absorbs into my skin pretty quickly, and leaves my skin feel nice and moisturized, not greasy/oily.
This velvet moisture body cream has a very strong Japanese floral scent to it, and I'm not gunna lie, it's a little too strong for my liking. If you have any scent sensitivities, then you're not going to be a fan of this product. Don't get me wrong, the scent is really nice and girly, but it can be a bit overwhelming.
I think that The Body Shop's Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Cream would make an excellent gift, as it's incredibly luxurious, in both the packaging and the cream itself. Like I said, anyone with scent sensitivities will want to stay away, but otherwise, I think that this cream is a real winner!
