Travel Diaries: Our Airbnb in Brussels, Belgium

As you know by now, Dylan and I have fallen in love with the apartment renting service, Airbnb. While we were last in Europe, in Brussels, Belgium specifically, we stayed in a charming apartment for 3 nights. We had just come from our tiny apartment in Paris, so we were absolutely thrilled by the sheer size of our new apartment in Brussels!

Our apartment had a large kitchen area, which actually came stocked with breakfast foods and essentials like condiments, which was really handy and saved us some cash. One of the main reasons that I love renting apartments compared to staying in hotels is the kitchen. While I like eating out while travelling and exploring local cuisine, I still do like to make my own meals some of the time. This helps me feel more balanced while travelling, and it can also allow you to eat a bit healthier and it can save you money.

Our bathroom was really nice and it had a very new & updated feel to it. The shower was quite roomy, which was a definite luxury compared to our apartment in Paris!

Our bed was just massive - I'm not sure what size it was because it must have been even bigger than a king, if that's possible! No matter which way I layed, I was never hanging off the side of the bed. I could definitely get used to this!

My favourite part of the apartment was the living room, I loved the simple and elegant theme. The chairs were comfy, especially after a long day of touring around the city! I enjoyed flipping through Belgian TV channels, I always think that that's a fun way to experience a city like a local would!

Our apartment was a 10-15 minute walk to Grand Place, the main square in Brussels, and where most of the action is. We only had to take public transportation once during our stay in Brussels, as everything is pretty compact. Wear comfortable shoes, and explore the city by foot!

Our apartment included cable tv, wireless internet, a washer/dryer, and a full kitchen. I absolutely love having a washer & dryer while travelling, something that you don't get with a hotel. Being able to do laundry while travelling means that I can pack lighter, and I can also come home with a suitcase of clean clothes! Not having to do laundry while jet lagged is a huge bonus!

This apartment cost us about $96 CAD per night, which is a really reasonable price for all that we got. Hotels are going to be priced similarly, except you get much more space and amenities when you rent an apartment.

Another successful Airbnb booking! I would highly recommend checking out Airbnb for your upcoming travels. I think we will continue to book apartments with the service instead of hotels, since all of our experiences with Airbnb have gone so smoothly! If you want to book an apartment rental on Airbnb, feel free to use my referral link, which will give both of us a $27 CAD Airbnb credit.
