Lush Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask

I've been a long time fan of Lush's Fresh Face Masks - starting with the cult favourite Cupcake back in junior high.Well, I think I've just found a new favourite formula in Lush's Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask ($12.95), which I picked up in store the other day. You do have to buy these in store (they aren't available online), because they do need to be refrigerated.

A simple blend of kaolin, calamine and Turkish rose oil to delicately calm the skin and restore balance. Whether you're feeling hot and bothered or just fancy showering your complexion with roses, cleansing calamine and kaolin will gently remove dirt while exquisite rose oil nourishes and tones your face. Calm, matte skin, here you come!" - Lush

Thanks Kevin!

Instead of purchasing this face mask, I took advantage of Lush's recycling program, and traded in 5 black pots for a free fresh face mask! I've used this program so many times, and I think that it's a great way to try out new formulas. I almost picked up Don't Look At Me, but one sniff of Rosy Cheeks sealed the deal! If you've ever tried Lush's Ro's Argan, then you'll recognize this amazing rose scent.

Since all of Lush's Fresh Face Masks are well, fresh, you do have to keep them in the fridge, and they have a fairly short shelf life. I picked this tub up on December 2nd, and it expires on December 13th, so you do have to make sure that you use it up quickly. However, I don't think that's going to be a problem for me because I'm low-key obsessed with this formula! I also love that this formula is vegan, like a lot of Lush's other products are.

This is the thickest face mask that I've ever used, probably due to the calamine powder and kaolin. Other ingredients include rose oil, rose petals, and rose clay, which all combine to create an intoxicating rose scent! Every time I open up my fridge I'm tempted to pull out this little tub and give it another sniff - it's that good.

What's even better is that this face mask doesn't just have a pretty scent, it also works quite well! This formula is very calming and soothing, making it a great option for sensitive, irritated, or distressed skin. I also found the formula to be quite hydrating, which is great for these cold Winter months. I kept this mask on for about 15 minutes, and while it does dry a little bit, it doesn't fully dry or get uncomfortable like a lot of clay masks tend to do.

So pretty much I'm in love. This mask is more expensive than Lush's other Fresh Face Masks, but I think that this one has high quality ingredients and would be worth the extra splurge every once in a while. Or you could do what I did and trade in 5 black pots for a free face mask!

Have you tried any of Lush's Fresh Face Masks? If so, which formulas are your favourites?

  1. OH! I had no idea you could also swap for their new pricier masks, that's awesome! I really really want to try this one and I actually have enough pots to swap in, just need to make it in store. This sounds really amazing! I am always bad at finishing them up before they expire (they do have A LOT of product) but I haven't had any actually smell weird or go 'off'. it would still be best to finish it in time, but the sizes are pretty generous and i need to do face masks more!

    1. Ya I didn't know either, so I was surprised when I asked in store! You should definitely try this one out, it's incredible :)
Oh and you can also freeze these masks if you don't finish them up before the expiration date! Then just take it out and let it thaw, use it, and put the rest back in the freezer!

  2. I really like this mask, it helped with a recent rosacea breakout I had. The Calamine is so great for that!
