It's been a while since I've used any Buxom makeup (I used to be obsessed with their lip polishes!), so I was really excited when a sneak peak of their new Plumpline Lip Liners* arrived in my mailbox! These lip liners are jumbo sized, so they can also be used to fill in your lips with full coverage & a matte finish. Each liner also has a lip brush on one end of the pencil, which allows you blend, contour, and define. I was sent 6 of the 20 new shades, so let's get right into the swatches!
These pencils come sharpened, and you will need a jumbo sharpener to keep the tip sharp since they sadly aren't retractable or auto sharpening. The lip brush is quite soft and does help to blend out the colour, although I don't think that it's a feature that I will find myself using all that often. I find the pencil quite easy to use on it's own, as I can get line my lips and also fill them in fairly quickly even without the brush. These lip liners wear really well, and they don't transfer all that easily. You can definitely pair them with other lipsticks as you would with traditional lip liners, but I think that these are best worn on their own.
Restricted is a beautiful deep coral shade that I think would work well year round. This colour applied evenly and wore well throughout the day.
Stealth is a pale nude colour with pink undertones. I found this colour to be flattering on my pale skin tone - I was actually surprised to find that it didn't wash me out!
Intrigue is a pale peach colour that's pretty but it does unfortunately apply a bit patchy. When I tried to even out the colour with the brush, the brush almost washed the colour away completely. This colour also clung to any dry patches of skin, so you're definitely going to want to exfoliate your lips before using this colour.
Stakeout is a bold, vampy wine colour. As is the case with a lot of vampy lipsticks, this one from Buxom did take a bit of time and effort to blend out nicely and to appear as even as possible. If you're in a rush or on the go, I wouldn't recommend Stakeout as a quick application does look patchy.
Dolly Danger is surprise, surprise, my favourite shade out of the bunch! I'm just such a sucker for dusty pinks!
Undercover is a brown brick colour that has great pigmentation. This isn't a shade that works particularly well with me pale skin tone, but I'm sure that it would look great on a lot of people.
Overall, I think that at $20 each these are a great lip liner/lip stick all in one product. All shades that I tried had great pigmentation, wore well, and felt nice on my lips. However, a few shades applied patchy, and I wasn't a huge fan of the brush. I still do think that these are a nice product, and I don't have anything quite like it in my collection. If you're someone that struggles to find matching lipsticks and liners, then Buxom's new Plumpline Lip Liners would be a great option for you!
