Lilac Hair

My hair is naturally a dark blonde colour, and dyed it all shades of brown, and at one point it was almost black. I wanted to have more of my natural hair colour for my wedding, so I started getting highlights about a year before I said I do. Since then, I've been maintaining my highlights, and I've really been loving life as a blonde again! One of the best things about being blonde is that it allows you the ability to try out a ton of fun colours. My hairstylists Meghan and Terry from Voila Coiffure have been slowly lightening my hair over my last few appointments, and finally my hair was light enough to try out a pastel lilac!

The best and worst thing about pastel haircoluros is that they are semi-permanent. This means that the colour/toner will wash out fairly quickly, making it more of a high maintenance hair colour. However, when the colour does fade, you're left with a beautiful blonde. Terry custom made this lilac colour for me after a consultation and a strand test, and I'm absolutely obsessed with how it turned out! He did recommend using a purple shampoo once a week to help the colour last as long as possible (he recommended Unite's Blonda, which smells like grapes). At my next appointment I'm going to ask for dark purple roots that bleed into an icy lilac.

Have you ever ventured into the world of pastel hair colours? In the future I'm wanting to try out a grey look (granny hair, anyone?), and rose gold! If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them :)
