Being vegan, I'm always on the lookout for new vegan companies to support. Last Fall I heard about saaboon, a vegan and cruelty free skincare brand, with all of the products made locally in Ottawa! They have a new store located at 595 Gladstone, but you can also order online if you live outside of the Capital. I stopped by the store and picked up two of their products to try out, and I've really been impressed!
First up is saaboon's Utility Deodorant ($14.99/100g)! I'm always wanting to try out different aluminum-free deodorants, so I was excited when I saw that saaboon had one on their shelves (who gets excited by deodorant?! I do!). This is a unisex product, and the scent really does work well for both men and women. This formula includes white clay, lemongrass, tea tree, bergamot, and lavender essential oils.
As I've mentioned before, it's normal to sweat, and the idea of using aluminum filled antiperspirants to stop sweating is incredibly unnatural and unhealthy. I've tried out quite a few healthy deodorant options over the years, and this one is one that I would definitely recommend. My only issue with this product is the packaging. The formula is quite hard, so it doesn't glide onto your skin like most softer deodorants tend to do. You have to almost melt this product with your body heat, so it's not something that I find I can swipe on in a hurry. If this product were packaged in a pot it might be a bit more practical, as I already end up applying it with my fingers anyways.
saaboon's French Clay Soap ($6.99/120 grams) is formulated with pink French clay, which is used to clarify and detoxify the skin. This soap is a great option for anyone with acne, sun damage, or razor burn. I absolutely love the scent, which is the reason that I bought this particular soap. The soft, gentle fragrance is also somehow bright and cheery. I was really surprised but how creamy this soap is - it works into a fantastic lather!
If you're in Ottawa, you can find saaboon products at their store located at 595 Gladstone, or at several health food stores across the city (Whole Foods, Rainbow Foods, Herb & Spice, Market Organics, terra20, and more. If you're outside of Ottawa, you can order saaboon products online. I absolutely love that the brand is vegan and cruelty free, and their products are also quite fabulous. I'm definitely wanting to check out more of saaboon's soaps, their bath salts, and their new bath bombs!
Have you tried any of saaboons products yet? If so, what are your favourites?
